Schedule a Fire Prevention Program

Fire Prevention Program Request Form

The Ennis Fire Department is always happy to assist the community with Fire Prevention programs for schools, churches, or civic organizations.

We have dedicated October as Fire Prevention Month. The Department goes to local schools throughout the City of Ennis to educate students on various issues. The members put on a demonstration with a firefighter, dressed as they would be on a fire scene, to show the students how important it is to not be afraid of a firefighter. The students are able to see what the firefighter would look like and how they would sound in the event of an actual emergency. This program teaches students to keep low to the floor and not to panic if they find themselves inside a burning building. The students are taught the importance of having a safe meeting place outside their residence for their family to gather, fire safety, common unsafe situations, and Exit Drills In The Home (EDITH). Upon completion of the discussions and demonstrations, the students are taken for a tour of a fire apparatus.

We partner with many local businesses, and individuals, that provide monetary donations that help fund safety education material for all the students from kindergarten thru 5th grade.  These materials have been designed exclusively by the National Fire Safety Council, a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt, non-profit organization.  This vital program assists us in teaching children fire safety and burn prevention.  We strongly believe that by making children AWARE, we can prevent tragic fire loss and even death.

If you would like a fire prevention program, please complete the Fire Prevention Program Request Form and email to, bschlotman@ennistx.gov, or fax to 972-875-4615.  If you need additional information, please contact Brandi Schlottman at 972-875-1234, Ext. 2244.
