The Property and Evidence Section of the Ennis Police Department is responsible for safekeeping, processing, and releasing any property items related to incident, criminal offense, or arrest reports.   

This may include items listed below:

  • Evidence Items: items that have evidentiary value such as drugs, fingerprints, and other forensics.
  • Recovered Stolen Property: items that may have been stolen from you or someone else which may have been recovered in another criminal case.
  • Found Property: property that has been located by a police officer or other citizen and turned in to the property room for safekeeping since the owner was unknown at the time the property was found. 


Frequently asked questions:

  • How do I retrieve my items?

          An appointment is required. Contact our property room manager by email (preferred) or phone (leave a voicemail) to schedule an appointment.


  • What do I need in order to retrieve my items?

         A picture ID is required to pick up any items.


  • When am I able to retrieve my items?

          If your items are part of an on-going or active case, the case must be disposed of before items can be released.


  • Can I surrender my firearms to the police department?

          You may surrender your unwanted firearms to the police department for destruction. Appropriate paperwork will need to be completed first.
