Services
The City of Ennis collects garbage twice a week. Other services include bulk pick up and recycling. Bulky items such as furniture, brush, or extra trash can be scheduled for a 48-hour bulk pick up after placing the items at the curb. Paper (including flattened cardboard), plastic, and aluminum that are clean and dry can be dropped off at the 20-yard single stream recycling bin located at the Public Works Office.
Scheduled Collection Days
Depending on the address, scheduled collection days are either a Monday and Thursday route or a Tuesday and Friday route. If you need to set up an account, call 972-875-1234 option 2 or visit the Utility Billing webpage HERE. For more questions on scheduled collection days, please call 972-875-1906. Please note, if a holiday or inclement weather prevents a regular collection day, two to three standard kitchen-size bags of household trash can be set on the side of your container for your next scheduled collection day.

Additional Information
48-Hour Bulk Pick Ups
Excess or bulky garbage can be scheduled for a 48-hour bulk pick up. Call Public Works after the bulk garbage is set at the curb or edge of the street. Pricing depends on how many cubic yards are set out. An example of one cubic yard is about the size of a washing machine.
The Ellis County Disposal (ECD) Landfill offers the City of Ennis residents two free disposal days each month. On the first and third Saturday of each month, one household can bring up to two cubic yards (one pickup truck bed). Each resident needs to bring a current City of Ennis water bill and driver’s license or State ID. The ECD Landfill requires all visitors to wear a hard hat and safety vest when dumping waste at the working face. If you do not have those items, you can buy them from the Scale House.
The ECD Landfill is located at 5703 N I-45, Ennis, TX 75119. Hours of operation on free disposal days are 7:00 am to 11:00 am.
